Swisscom Hotspot Locator for Android

If you have an Android phone with a Swisscom NATEL liberty piccolo/mezzo/grande (see here for more details) subscription your included data rate does not only cover data traffic over the mobile network but also traffic over Swisscom’s PWLAN Hotspots. This application allows you to find Swisscom PWLAN Hotspots around you or lets you search them by town or city.

If you are an iPhone user get the "Swisscom Hotspot Locator" directly from the Appstore.

Usage
The application has two main views: GPS and Search.

 

The GPS view lets you to find PWLAN Hotspots that are in your vicinity when you need access to a PWLAN. The results can either be displayed on a map or in a list. The second main view, the Search view, lets you search Hotspots by town/city so that you can ensure that the place you’re going to provides PWLAN access. If you choose a PWLAN hostspot you’re able to see more details about this location.

Please not that this is a beta product and that the Hotspot list might not always be up-to-date.

Crash sur HTC Hero

Bonjour,

L'application crash dès qu'on touche l'écran de la page GPS.
Testé sur HTC Hero.
Bonne idée d'application, continuez.

Bonjour,

On avait ce problème avec l'ancienne version du Hotspot Locator. Avez vous déjà essayé de télécharger la nouvelle version (1.0c)?

Pour étre sur d'avoir la dernière version installé proprement essayez le suivant:

  1. Allez sur 'Paramètres' -> 'Applications' -> 'Gérer les applications'
  2. Cherchez l'application 'Hotspot Locator' et désinstallez la.
  3. En suite, quand vous avez plus l'application 'Hotspot Locator' dans la liste des applications, ouvrez votre browser et allez sur labs.swisscom.com
  4. Il est important de vous logger avec votre nom d’utilisateur et votre mot de passe pour pouvoir télécharger l'application.
  5. Quand vous étes loggé allez sur 'Beta' -> 'Swisscom Hotspot Locator for Android' et téléchargez l'application de nouveau.

Crash sur HTC Hero

Je viens de réinstallé la dernière version mais, malheureusement, le résultat est le même.
Les infos sur mon HTC Hero sont:

Version du micrologiciel : 1.5
Version du noyau: 2.6.27-8dd6deee
Numéro de build: 2.73.405.5

Bonjour

Nous avons juste testé le 'Hotspot Locator' dans la dernière version sur un HTC Hero avec la même version de Android. Malheureusement nous avons pas pu reproduire ce problème du crash. Nous sommes quand même très intéressé à une solution pour ce problème. Nous reprendrons contact avec vous ultérieurement concernant ce problème.

iPhone

Nette und effiziente App, die ich natürlich demnächst auch gerne auf dem iPhone sehen würde. Mir ist klar, dass die homologierung seitens Apple erfahrungsgemäss etwas länger dauert. Der Prozess macht aber durchaus Sinn: Erst auf Android das Beta Testing und wenn alles stabil ist Delivery auf dem iPhone (AppStore).

I realy like this App, but, wouldnt it be handy to directly start the GPS and localize the position and then show the Hotspots?

Thanks for the feedback. Check out the latest version, we added a menu option offering the feature you mentioned.

By pressing the menu button you'll now get the option "Start screen" where you can choose between "GPS" and "Town list" as default start screen.

Unfortunately I could not test it as I'm not a Android mobile owner. By the way I will find this application very useful, so I hope their will be also a Iphone version.

Regarding WLan, in France the operator "Free" as enable all routeur of their customer with another network with another SSID. Customer can disable this network. Access to this network is secure via a login portal and does not influence the customer wlan quality because of the QOS. The idea is that everybody who share his access point can access to the other routeur on the network with no charge.
